Message from Sylvia - Store Ops

The time has come to say farewell to my family at Value City on December 12th. It has been a pleasure working with everyone, having had the opportunity to meet with many people it is clear that Value City is a close knit family, it is very difficult to say goodbye.

When I think of my 33 years at Value City, my memories will be of all the outstanding hard working people. I cannot express enough what this has meant to me.

I will miss you and the company and wish everyone the best in their personal and professional endeavors.

“Life is about cherishing the past, facing the present, and moving ahead towards new milestones”.

Happy Holidays!

Take care and G-d Bless,

Sylvia

Hahahhaha Love the quotes I was just at this site where they had all these motivational and inspirational refrigerator magnets and I got a bunch of them. They were really cool with funny original sayings:) http://www.motivationalrefrigeratormagnets.com/

Anyway, thanks for sharing the quotes, I loved them!

Comment on the "Banned Value City Back to School Commercial"

Yes, it's real -- we produced it with our ad agency for Back to School 2007, to test the response we'd get through You Tube and other viral marketing channels. Kind of a different twist on item and price advertising, isn't it?

Thanks Anonymous for the information. It definitely isn't Advertising like what we have seen in the past with the Company. We just weren't sure if someone was slamming VC or if it was real and just a different approach that they were trying :)

Ohhhh yeah...the Florida buyouts. Then came the California buyouts. Remember the moonlight madness sales with the guy in the moon? What was his name? He was an icon back in the day. I did not know you in those times Lynn, but was lucky enough to work with you later on. Thanks for the flashback! OK...who remembers the smocks?????? Boy were those hidious!

Comments from Lynn (#117)

Thanks Cathy. I'm so sad :(. I can remember the VC heydays. Working part time at the North store in Dresses and Coats. Getting a bagle and cream cheese at the lunch counter. Harvey Steinberg, the dress buyer, walked by one day and said "put those lurex dresses on this T stand (along the aisle), they'll blow out. I thought, "well I could do that." Now, I can say, I did do that, and I did it well. VC has given me such an opportunity for professional and personal growth. I miss those fun and crazy Florida buyouts when we'd get so much cool stuff in. Yea, it was hard to merchandise but it was all so exciting and unique. And people loved it. I've never seen anything like it and I don't think I ever will.

What a GREAT idea! Leave it to Cathy to work out the details! It is so easy to lose touch with people, this should be a great way to keep the "family" in tact!
