For months, the City of Pataskala has suffered through serious funding concerns. Now, there is question on the future of the police department.The chief wrote a letter outlying a possible solution to save the city hundreds of thousands of dollars and keep the police force in some capacity beyond 2010.
It was just a week ago the voters rejected an income tax hike that would have helped the police force stay together.
Without additional funding sources the force could be reduced to a part-time force, and eventually close and be patrolled by the county.
Forshey said that buying him out of his position would give the force some wiggle room in the short term until city officials find a way to get more revenue to the city.
The issue is expected to be discussed at Monday’s city council meeting.
