COLUMBUS, Ohio – Central Ohio got anywhere from 5 to 10 inches of snow the past few days and that presents problems on the road. It also could prevent a problem for those who are trying to get rid of the snow as well.
Many doctors say winter is heart attack season because so many people suffer complications shoveling their driveways and sidewalks.
Experts at the Ohio State University Medical Center say there is a right way to do it. Donald Demay from OSU says, “proper technique with snow shoveling should consist of keeping your hands apart so you have good leverage and keeping your knees bent and back straight. What you want to do is push the snow. You don’t want to twist or turn and you wanna be able to use your leverage to move the snow.“
Experts say people who are shoveling the snow often don’t realize they are overexerting themselves.
